REB wrote a base article on how to draw a monster some time ago for comicmonsters.com. We thought it would be a nice addition to the blog here at Art of REB, for artists of all skill levels. Besides it’s just fun to draw monsters. That original article appears below:
Even the word sounds cool.
To me, the best monsters are the ones that the viewer can somewhat identify with. Though this symbiosis can take place on many different levels… the most common technique employed is the distortion of physical appearance. If the creature has a recognizable human attribute, mangled or rotting, we feel we can relate to some degree. Which leads us to our subject manner… How to draw a Ghoul!
The Weekly Bro Chat interviewed REB at the Derby City Comic Con in Nashville, Tennessee in the summer of 2012. Get an insight into his views on digital comics and his reading list as a young comic book fan. Appearing in person at the 2014 Fantscicon – Heroes in Training, Rob E. Brown (REB to his friends). Fantascicon will be held March 21-23 at the Super 8 Convention Center in Dalton, GA. Come on by for some live music, food, friends, and a bit of grog. Get in on the panel discussions, the cosplay, and a bit more grog. You’ll meet other artists and writers as well and have a bit of fun.
A local haunt for REB. Some people have bars, REB has cons.
REB will make his annual appearance at Hallowcon – It’s a Zombie Madhouse at the Dalton, Ga Super 8 Convention Center, October 25th through October 27th. He will participate in a few panels, sign books, and bring everyone up to speed on his latest endeavors into evil. You’ll find him in the dealer room or hanging out in the con suite with old and new friends alike.
Be sure to wear your best zombie suite.
